Calling on comedians, dancers, musicians, magicians, singers, and other performers for Charity Event and Black Oak Casino Performance
Today, Soroptimist International of Sonora, a service organization for professional women, announced they are now accepting submissions for the Tuolumne County Talent Show, to be held on August 8, 2009 from 3 PM to 6 PM at the Sonora Elks Lodge. The judged contest is calling for comedians, dancers, musicians, magicians, singers, other performers. The winner of the will receive $250 plus the opportunity to perform at the Black Oak Casino, if the winner is over 18 years old. The second place will be rewarded with $150 and a third place will receive $100. The winner of the “Audience Favorite” award will receive a trophy and recognition!
The $25 admission fee will be waived for performers who sell eight tickets to the event. All proceeds of the event will go to Soroptimist International of Sonora Service Projects, a 501c3 charity. Founded in 1921, Soroptimist comprises almost 100,000 members in about 120 countries worldwide who contribute time and financial support to community-based projects benefiting women. Soroptimist’s major service project, the Women’s Opportunity Awards program, provides cash grants for women seeking to improve their economic situation through additional education and training.
