Vermont has a significant and fascinating musical folklore: John Philip Sousa composed The Stars and Stripes Forever in Isle LaMotte; electronic music was pioneered at Bennington College, Helen Hartness Flanders discovered a treasure trove of Vermont folk music in the mid-20th century, and much more. This multi-media presentation by local musician and scholar William Tortolano is sponsored by the Vermont Humanities Council in conjunction with the Friends of the Fletcher Free Library.
