Long time no see -- we've missed you!! You've probably been scratching your head and wondering, what's up with the Ghetto Gourmet? Well, we've been around quietly working on some new projects! I'd like to introduce you to Canvas Underground, the brainchild of Ghetto Gourmet's Chef Peter Jackson. Canvas Underground aims to bring an intimate experience for slow food enthusiasts. What's slow food? Taking the time to enjoy food with family and friends, and in this case, strangers in true Ghet tradition. Everything will be made from scratch and grown locally, and of course in season!
Join us on October 28 in Oakland (Grand/Lake Merritt) for the "The Omnivore's Table" to celebrate the best of fall's produce. The Ghetto Gourmet's beloved Chef Peter Jackson will shop at the farmers market, use the best of what he finds and let inspiration be his guide. Here are some hints: expect Wolf Ranch quail, local chanterelles, green tomatoes, homemade guinea hog tasso, sweet potatoes, clams, and moreā¦.
Sign up today! Space is limited and tickets are $45! BYO wine but no need to bring your own cushions!
Some of you know him and love him, some of you don't know that you'll love him: Check out our friend W Kamau Bell's new show "The Bell Curve" - Ending racism in about an hour. Buy tickets at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/21586 - mention the Ghetto Gourmet for a family discount.
Thanks and hope to see you soon!
