Brian's talk will be in two parts:

1. Why it was so difficult: a description of the Enigma machine and an account of its operational use by the German Armed forces.

2. How the Enigma problem was solved: an explanation of the vital role of The Turing/ Welchman Bombes in breaking Enigma at Bletchley Park.
