ARDA, a Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra chamber group comprised of strings and percussion will be performing at McKendree University. ARDA was founded by St. Louis composer/arranger Christian Woehr as an outlet for a core of SLSO players who love the "World Music" genre. The name ARDA comes from J.R.R. Tolkien in the "Silmarillion," his pre-history to the Lord of the Rings trilogy. It is Tolkien’s word for the "World or Universe," including “all that is or was or will be, as created by Iluvatar from the Music of the Ainur.” From Mexican folk tunes to Irish jigs, from Bach to Woehr, ARDA combines the performance, arranging, and compositional talents of some of St. Louis’ finest, most versatile musicians.
