The Women Making History in Portland Mural is a project sponsored by In Other Words Women's Books and Resources. The design has been a collaborative effort between metro area non-profits and historians who were asked to nominate women from their communities whom they felt have made a significant impact on Portland from the grass roots level. The Mural serves as a way to acknowledge and teach the general public about the contributions of women while simultaneously building community amongst women of different communities.

The unveiling will be a mural completion celebration to honor the women depicted as well as to thank all the volunteers and participants who came together to create Portland's newest piece of public art. There will be food, music, games, and a raffle with prizes.
