SilverStripe - An Object-oriented Open Source CMS - Community Meetup (at OSCON)
Thursday July 23, 2009 from 7:00pm - 8:00pm
San Jose Convention Center
150 W San Carlos
San Jose, California Get Directions
SilverStripe is a PHP5-based CMS downloaded 160,000+ times. It focuses on being user friendly to end-users, and has an object oriented framework, Sapphire, within it, for developers. Meet a co-founder Sigurd Magnusson and others who use the software. Gain an overview of the project and ask lots of questions!

SilverStripe is released under the BSD license and was used by the U.S. Democratic National Convention last year to power their very busy 2008 convention website, a scalability topic we can touch on for those interested. SilverStripe was listed ‘most promising open source CMS’ by the global PacktPub CMS awards in 2008.

The session will be led by Sigurd Magnusson, who will provide an overview and answer questions in a stand-up format. Depending on the feedback of the group at the time, we’ll share experiences, thoughts, code, and knowledge. We would love to use this as an opportunity to gather feedback around new features to put in the software.

You can get an insight into both SilverStripe and the material covered in this session by watching us at a New York PHP user meeting from May 2009: http://www.silverstripe.org/silverstripe-interest-fills-new-york-event-listen-to-the-talk/

(This session is held as a Birds of a Feather session at OSCON and is free to attend).
