An important new American voice, composer Alexandra du Bois has written for the Kronos Quartet and Beaux Arts Trio. Her music is rich and emotional as she reflects on the tumultuous events of the opening of the 21st century. Written only months before Appalachian Spring, the Violin Sonata of Copland dates from 1943. The summer closes with a soundtrack for a green world—the famous Schubert Trout Quintet.
