Honestly. It’s about time.

Boulder is one of the most progressive communities in the country. You have a high level of consciousness, a university full of wonderful, idealistic young folks, more of the world’s top climate scientists than you can shake a stick at, and you’re all movers and shakers. And yet there’s this nasty, coal-fired power plant right in your back yard.

Well, it doesn’t have to stay that way.

Alison Burchell from Clean Energy Action informed us that the Valmont "permit to pollute" is up for renewal. On July 14th there’s a hearing at the Boulder County Hearing Room regarding the permit.

The hearing will allow Boulder residents to have their voices heard regarding the re-granting of this permit which would allow Valmont to continue adding significant quantities of carbon dioxide to the global atmosphere and mercury and other hazardous pollutants to the Boulder environment.
