Cause for Drinks Happy Hour @ Marvin
Wednesday October 24, 2007 from 7:00pm - 9:00pm

October's "Cause for Drinks" will benefit the citizens of Burma whose 50 million people have suffered for years at the hands of their repressive and brutal military dictatorship. $2 from every drink will assist grassroots efforts to restore basic human rights, democratic rights, and rule of law in Burma. All proceeds will be donated to the Burma Lawyer’s Council.

The happy hour is organized by AllDayBuffet, an innovative social movement whose aim has been to inspire the young minds shaping tomorrow’s future by combining doing GOOD with having fun. Simply put, it is a series of social gatherings (read happy hours) held across the country in cities like DC, New Orleans and New York in which a percentage of all drink sales are directed towards a non-profit organization of their choosing. One night every month, residents of host cities venture to pre-determined venues with the intent of raising money and social consciousness for particular issues.

Previous beneficiaries have included an under-funded school in Ghana and the New Orleans Kid Camera Project. Both events raised over $1000 for their respective organizations, generated a successful turnout among community leaders and young vanguard-types, and demonstrated that altruism isn’t a four-letter word.
