The Age (Melbourne)

Following an acclaimed season in Melbourne, Australia, Four Larks is back in the SF Bay Area to present their adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel, The Master and Margarita. This junkyard opera features the Devil and his retinue, a six-foot-tall black cat, a naked witch, a master writer and his lover, and a decapitation.
Four Larks' wildly original adaptation fuses theatre, installation, live music, visual spectacle and vodka. Four Larks is a collective of inter-disciplinary artists from the US and Australia. They create unique performance events in non-traditional spaces using found and recycled material.

The MASTER & MARGARITA plays July 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, 18, and 19th at 8pm at Ghost Town Gallery
2519 San Pablo Ave, Oakland, CA
Tickets: $15 ($10 concession)

“In a small room, at the top of a big flight of steps, I was transported through time and space, led down into the underworld, and taken on a journey across the sea…This production had it all; strange and beautiful creatures appearing from various nooks and crannies, musicians popping up to weave us melodically through the narrative, and an eerie, ever transforming set. Four Larks is an exciting new collective of actors, musicians, and designers who know how to weave an enchanting tale. With anticipation, I await their next wave of the wand.” Yartz, Melbourne
