The Student Organization for Alumni Relations (SOAR), the Central Indiana Chapter of the IU Alumni Association and the IUPUI Alumni Council are sponsoring an inaugural "IUPUI Regatta: A Canoe Race on the Downtown Canal."

The half-mile race will be held September 19 at the north end of the canal running from the Buggs' Temple end to the USS Indianapolis basin and back. There will be 4-person teams of paddlers racing in canoes, 2 paddlers at a time. Each team may have up to 4 additional members to assist paddlers getting in and out of their canoes. Current students, alumni, faculty, and staff may enter.
