This pavilion is named for what was once the country's shortest standard-gauge line, the Marion River Carry Railroad, which operated from 1900 to 1929. Built to link steamboat routes of the Raquette Lake Transportation Company running between Raquette and Blue Mountain Lakes, the railroad covered a distance of 1,300 yards.
