There’s more than one way to skin a cat, and there are many, many ways to make good music. As musician Liam Finn has discovered, there’s really only one way to be a solo artist. First you form a one man band. This involves knowing how to play a variety of instruments, and sometimes, several of them at the same time, followed by putting together a collection of personal, intimate and unique pop aural treats. This hasn’t been a problem for Finn, member of Betchadupa and heir apparent to the Finn family’s musical talent. He has recently given live audiences in London, LA, Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland a bit of a thrill by singing, playing guitar lines, bass lines and the drums on stage at his solo gigs, with only a looping effects pedal. This time around, Liam Finn brings his pop and rock ‘n’ roll moments to the NSC. Debut album ‘I’ll Be Lightning’ is out now.
