Uz Jsme Doma
Už Jsme Doma is one of the world’s least categorizable bands. When the group came together in Czechoslovakia in 1985, rock was freedom and freedom was illegal. Via Western radio and smuggled tapes, the band came into contact with punk rock favorites such as the Sex Pistols and the Damned and more avant-garde bands such as the Residents and Pere Ubu. Coupled with the folk music of their native land, the result is a complete disregard for audience expectations, with songs characterized by shifting tempos and rhythms, precise ensemble playing, wild Slavic melodies, and passionate, operatic singing.
Wolff and Tuba
The concept is that all the sounds are generated by, with and through the tuba itself with the help of numerous guitar pedals and other sundry looping devices. Singing is through the tuba. Percussion is banging on the tuba. Beat box through it as well. It's not nearly as scary as it sounds.
