The Ladakh Confluence
Friday August 28, 2009 - Monday August 31, 2009

Set in the most remote and least populated region of India, the Confluence celebrates music, art, heritage, culture and nature in one of the highest, driest inhabited places on earth.

The Confluence, which will take place on the banks of the Indus, 8km from Leh near Choglamsar, promises world-class music performances, a nature and adventure film festival, workshops, children’s activities, tangkha art, calligraphy, Ladakhi dance, looming, photography, food and handicraft stalls, chhang-making sessions and, of course, a momo-eating contest.

At the time of printing, the line-up of musicians couldn’t be confirmed officially, but some very impressive names are slated to be part of the mix. Expect eclectic folk, fusion and world music, clean, dance-worthy acoustic sounds and spontaneous jam sessions, all against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains. Allowing additional time for travel (the ride up to Leh is spectacular), high-altitude acclimatisation and adventure, the four-day Confluence is even better as the highlight of a longer trip. Don’t forget your thermals or your dancing shoes.
