What future for business? Risk-taking after the recession
Tuesday July 7, 2009 from 7:00pm - 8:30pm

"spiked, in association with Clarke Mulder Purdie, is hosting a debate in central London looking at the impact the recession is likely to have on the future of business. Join us and our panel of experts as we explore the economic and political pressures that will shape risk-taking and innovation for many years to come.

In the midst of the deepest world recession in generations, businesses will have to adjust in many profound ways to the changed economic circumstances. But is it just the state of the economy that is likely to have an effect on the business mindset? Whether it’s the Archibishop of Canterbury or the Chancellor of the Exchequer, aspects of economic behaviour long associated with economic wellbeing are being called into question, from self-interest to risky investment. How will this affect business? Will risk-taking be replaced by caution and restraint? Will innovation be stunted by budgetary restraints? Will scrutiny and regulation inhibit business practice more generally?"
