The first Indie Potluck was awesome with Chicago’s Raise High the Roof Beam at the helm but this time we got RockIowa veterans, This Frontier Needs Heroes, a folk bro-sis duo from New York. They just released a new strong self-titled CD of folk-tinged Americana and a lovin spoonful of psychedelia and are touring to support it. Local guitarist and Mews ticketer Gabe Cordova will also join us.
So what's an Indie Potluck? The Rock Iowa crew, musicians and music fans get together at a park, setup a table with lots of eats and hang out in a casual and intimate atmosphere and listen to some free music.
We're at Union Park this time, we'll meet near the parking lot off Guthrie near the carousel. The grills will be fired up at 6pm and we’ll be enjoying tunes and having fun until at least 8pm. This is a free event with some hot dogs and brats available. Participants are encouraged to bring your own meat (or non-meat) for grilling and a side to share with the picnic. Bring a chair or blanket and your favorite outdoor activities!
This Frontier Needs Heroes has been simply making good music since 2007. Brother Brad leads with soulfully wry lyrics supported by gentle guitar while Jessica strums, picks, shakes, or claps along adding her perfect melody.
Gabe Cordova's hushed voice and delicate guitar will sound amazing as you gaze upon the setting sun as it glistens on a calm lake. you will. You will.
So come meet the bands and catch some free acoustic tunes at Union Lake!
