Richmond’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities will hold a sanctioned horseshoe tournament at the Gillies Creek Park horseshoe pits on Saturday, July 18, in conjunction with the Gillies Creek Park Foundation and the Richmond Horseshoe Pitchers Club.



Play will begin at 10 a.m., and trophies for first, second and third place will be awarded in several divisions of play.



Registration to play costs $15 per person. Because the tournament is sanctioned, all players must be members of the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association to participate; however anyone can join the association for $24 on site. This is an all ages and skill levels event, and anyone who wishes to join the association and play should arrive at 8:30 a.m. to sign up and qualify for a division.



Sunday, July 19, has been set as the rain date. Gillies Creek Park is located at 4425 Williamsburg Avenue.
