Breaking Boundaries - Creative Workshops
Tuesday August 18, 2009 - Friday August 21, 2009 at 7:30pm
Goethe Zentrum
Association for German Culture, Hermitage Office Complex(HUDA) , Hillfort Road, Nampally
Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh Get Directions
Breaking Boundaries - Creative Workshops. In collaboration with PASCH Schools Partners for the Future. With a dual programme that involves children in the mornings, and is open to everyone in the afternoons, different forms of breaking boundaries will be explored. As German cultural centre in Hyderabad, we are constantly involved with the thematic of cross-cultural understandings and its social products. Yet, even if in different forms, cultural boundaries represent realities that are rooted deeper than the mere difference of nationalities and touch everybody's lives. We break (or fail to do so) boundaries whenever we cross our doorstep and affront the world outside there. But also within the familiar surroundings of our own intimate spaces, unknown realities break into our lives, through various media: from TV to novels, from creative expressions such as dance performances to new-tasting foods, the factors that confront us with new cultural realities are innumerable. A re-elaboration of given notions becomes necessary in order to regain a balance between the known and the unknown. It is the longing for a space of understanding that incorporates and welcomes the 'new', not as frightening outsider, yet as unexplored source of cultural enrichment that contributes to the delicate process of negotiating identities, which drives Breaking Boundaries. With a dual programme that involves children in the mornings, and is open to everyone in the afternoons, different forms of breaking boundaries will be explored. In the mornings, experts will conduct creative workshops in the fields of visual arts, dance and writing, with the children of various schools in the Twin Cities.
