The Green Ball is a Contra Formal (This means anything from ball gowns, tuxes and kilts to jeans and bare feet... what ever makes one comfortable, particularly if it's a shade of green).The Gala is sponsored by Davidson College's Environmental Action Coalition, a student organization working to raise environmental awareness at Davidson and in the surrounding community. Proceeds go to Davidson Lands Conservancy (http://www.davidsonlands.org/)

As with most contra dances the crash course a half hour before the dance (7:30 pm tonight) will be all most individuals need to enjoy a lovely night of dance in support of this fine cause.

Land of Sky - One of the areas most delightful contra dance bands respected for their eclectic fiery style and skill at working venues with novice dancers. Members have long been favorites at dance weekends across the country.

Diane Silver will be the Ball's Dance instructor. Ms. Silver is know nationally for her ability to take a room full of novice dancers up to full speed contra course of an evening while simultaneously delighting the experienced dancers in attendance.
