Headliner: Killaflaw http://www.myspace.com/killaflaw
Born from the influences of the rave scene to the rock driven sound of Led Zeppelin, Killaflaw are an explosive act. They consist of Benn Helm - vocals, guitar and studio synths and Andy Paton - synths, samplers, drum machines and trumpet. They have been working together for four years but joined forces officially two years ago due to commitments in other bands.
Benn Helm has performed in many bands and music projects. He gigged in the The Royal Albert Hall and Summer Pops with The Jones's, backing James Brown, and has been in bands such as Nanmess and Circus. Nanmess were a hard hitting rock band whilst Circus combined Blues and psychedelic rock. He writes his own acoustic material and was also a member of Hendrix-esq band Kush. His original interest in the rave scene has brought them together. His raw, energetic and bluesy vocal style, unique songwriting skills and talent for memorable and catchy guitar riffs is essential to the Killaflaw sound.
Influences: Prodigy, Orbital and Chemical Brothers, Miles Davis, Led Zeppelin to Vaughan Williams to Pink Floyd. "I think it's really good stuff. I'd like to play some on my show sometime" John Peel
"I thought it was good and really catchy. There was a good use of melody lines. It was really funky for an almost breakbeat tune. I'd like to hear more. It peaked my interest definitely!" Tom Findlay (Groove Armada)
''Dance music is on a downer at the moment...Its a calling for all electronic artists to make music that excites people again!''
Tom Young is a 22 year old Big Breaks/Electronic musician and producer. He strongly believes in live dance music and feel that crap DJ's, along with faceless, one-hit bedroom acts (usually 40yr old men [Oi! JK] who cant beat them, so join them!) have spoilt the masses perception of dance music, and he's out to put things right. The connection, energy and buzz from a live crowd is far too important just to limit your music to a recording.
He writes his tracks between his home studio in Suffolk and his tiny room at his uni halls in Liverpool, much to the annoyance of his neighbours! Always writing with live performances in mind, he finds inspiration from jamming and trawling through banks of samples. He's currently working with a number of talented vocalists on his debut album (including the tracks on his myspace) and playing live shows in and around Liverpool, whilst also producing other exciting acts (including Killaflaw) AND completing a degree at LIPA.
He's won a number of awards for his music, including the title of Young Musician of the Year, and the Sound Plus Award for Innovation

"A refreshingly original sound"
Former dj, future jeweler, he's been doing music officially for about 6 years, just doing his own thing. Remarkably he doesn't know how to read music yet plays all the parts. The notes sometimes sound "wrong" to some, but to the enlightened, He plays the instruments in the way he knows how to which creates a refreshingly original sound. Dig it!
