We’re organizing a BarCamp in New Orleans. BarCamp is an unconference, which means it’s probably unlike most conferences you’ve been to. We’re getting people together who care about technology and are interested in connecting with the local community to socialize, learn, and to help New Orleans.
BarCamp is an international network of user generated conferences — open, participatory workshop-events, whose content is provided by participants — often focusing on early-stage web applications, and related open source technologies, social protocols, and open data formats. The first BarCamp was in Palo Alto in August of 2005, and the movement has gained momentum and then and created quite a history
The format of the New Orleans BarCamp weekend is shaping up like this:
• Feb 16 – BarCamp open sessions and workshops
• Feb 17 – “Hack day”-style project(s) for local nonprofit and/or small business
