3rd Annual TARC TailGate Party
No, we don't have any Brats grilling or a multitude of fans wearing their team colors. This is a different kind of Tailgate Party.
For Amateur Radio operators (also known as "Hams"), the things that set our hearts pounding are that 1960's vintage radio or a used antenna (owned by a little old lady Ham who never operated at more than 100 watts). The place we go to find these gems is a "Tailgate Party".
Every August, the Trident Amateur Radio Club (TARC) of Charleston, gathers at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge, outside of Moncks Corner, to swap Amateur Radio gear and a few stories. It gives Hams a chance to buy those little pieces and parts we need to complete a project or, get rid of some of the things we have accumulated in the past year. Along with the commerce, this is the chance to meet face-to-face with those we have only known as a voice on the radio. For those who are curious about Amateur Radio, it provides a place to get information, talk with Hams and perhaps, get a chance to operate a radio station themselves.
