When Lives Become Form: Contemporary Brazilian Art, 1960s to the Present
Friday November 13, 2009 from 2:00pm - 8:00pm
Yerba Buena Center for the Arts
701 Mission St.
San Francisco, California 94103 Get Directions
In the 1960s, an artistic movement arose in Brazil, Tropicalia, which celebrated the "originality of the culture of people who live in the tropics." Tropicalia sought to escape the shadow of the West and create a uniquely Brazilian art culture. This exhibition features Brazil's creative vitality through the works of contemporary Brazilian artists, fashion designers and architects.
