voluntary descent: preparing for a resource scarce future

Thu Feb 28 7:30pm – 9:30pm
(Timezone: Central Time)
Café Mundi

Folks, it’s time for voluntary descent. We need to learn about it and do it ASAP. Descent means fitting our lifestyles to our available resource base. We’ve been taking resources from others for too long. It’s made us, as a country, a shame-based addict. We need to descend so that we can then reclaim our souls, and our joy, from the shame.

Involuntary descent is the alternative. As Leonard Cohen sang, “I have seen your future, and brother it’s murder.”

Voluntary descent can be prosperous, and renewing. Involuntary descent can not. While we have choice, we should use it.

If you don’t want to come to the Study Circle, read Howard and Elisabeth Odum’s book, A Prosperous Way Down, and organize to get its policies enacted ASAP.

If you do want to come to the Study Circle, we meet for the first time February 28 from 7:30-9:30 at Café Mundi. You won’t need to have done any reading until the meeting subsequent to this meeting. The first meeting, we will build community and set our expectations.
