Gen Art in collaboration with D-Structure, Lower Haters and Upper Playground's FIFTY24SF Gallery would like to invite you to Cultured!, a gallery hop in the Lower Haight to view the artists in resident’s work within each shop. Meet the artists, listen to great backbeats, support your local businesses and enter to win something fantastic from each gallery shop.
D-Structure opened its doors in the Lower Haight in 2006 and since then, the Montreal based company supports rollerblading, twin tip skiing, as well as the art community. The artwork on display is by some of the most talented artists around.
At just over a year old, Lower Haters Store and Gallery is proudly situated in its namesake neighborhood of the Lower Haight. Lower Haters pulls its spirit, character, and inspiration from the diverse and distinct Lower Haight community to create a collective that celebrates all aspects of lifestyle from Hip Hop to Punk Rock to promote and develop fashion, art, and design.
During the gallery hop, Lower Haters will display New Works by Phil Holt . A veteran tattooist of ten years, Phil Holt's art and the expertise in his craft have earned him high regard in the tattoo and art world. He is one of those rare people that elevate the craft. He owns and operates his own gallery Redletter1 in Tampa, Florida. Recently, he moved to San Francisco to tattoo with Grime at Skull and Sword in the Mission. A prolific painter, his work has been featured in prestigious exhibits throughout the US as well as Osaka, Barcelona, and London to name a few.
Upper Playground in association with FIFTY24SF GALLERY presents a collection of new paintings and sculpture by Slick at 252 Fillmore Street and a new collection of paintings by Lucy Mclauchlan at 248 Fillmore Street.
Based in San Francisco, California, Upper Playground was founded in 1998 and has become a leader in today’s progressive art movement with its innovative apparel line and art gallery, FIFTY24SF. Recognized as a catalyst for the fusion of fashion with art, Upper Playground produces apparel lines bi-annually and features designs from notable local and international artists and graphic designers. The apparel line is sold nationally and internationally in over 300 boutiques and online.
Upper Playground also owns and operates the FIFTY24SF Gallery in San Francisco, California, which showcases art from some of the best contemporary artists in the world. The FIFTY24SF gallery provides a unique space in which to showcase the physical artwork of the artists featured on Upper Playground's clothing in a raw, studio environment. Since 1998 the gallery has consistently executed innovative shows that carry out complex themes and ideas. FIFTY24SF Gallery has approximately twelve shows a year and has grown to exhibit outside of its San Francisco gallery both nationally and internationally (some of the highlights include shows in Japan, Italy, France, Spain and England). Please visit www.upperplayground.com and www.fifty24sf.com for more information.
