Portland Web Innovators - Publishing Platform Wars! (Comparing three CMSes)
Wednesday April 2, 2008 at 7:00pm
ISITE Design
115 NW First Avenue, Suite 500
Portland, 97209 Get Directions
The Web is about getting something out there for other people to see. Though we all love technology, it's more important to get content up easily. That is even more the case when we're building sites for others.

We've chosen three popular systems for content management systems to be shown off by fellow web people who are users of the products. No pitches, just honest opinions. Bring your own opinions, too!

Expression Engine - Josh Pyles, Pixelmatrix Design
Drupal - Lev Tsypin, Level Online Strategy
Wordpress - Paul Farning, ISITE Design

I am stoked about this one!

This should be a great time. As a non-programmer, I rely way too much on my CMS to do things for me, so I'm always looking for the best platform that I should be on.

If you can't find anyone for Wordpress, you should have Michael Richardson come argue for Django.

Nice, we have a wordpress speaker. Thanks Paul!

Funny, when we first started thinking about this, it was to have a look at web frameworks (Django, Rails, ASP.NET, etc.). It quickly shifted to publishing platforms when seeing the discussion around re-doing pdxwi.com. Sounds like a web framework topic might be something to keep on the agenda.

And thanks for Josh and Lev too! Looking forward to it.

@ryanw you're right. i got django confused with something else. I was thinking django was more like drupal than rails, but it is more like rails.
