Jazz guitarist Lionel Loueke’s distinctive sound is a blend of jazz and West African harmonies and rhythms. Loueke started playing music during his childhood in the West African country of Benin, eventually journeying to Paris and then to the United States to continue his studies. In the States, he gained the admiration of jazz greats Terence Blanchard, Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock and soon became an integral member of Blanchard’s band and later recorded and toured with Hancock’s quartet.
NOTE: There will be an informal Meet and Greet with the artists following the performance.
