On the forefront of new music in Japan, the young artists fuse jazz-like improvisation and pop-rock sensibilities with ancient Japanese music. Clad in formal kimonos, the Yoshida Brothers play the shamisen, an ancient three-stringed instrument, with fervor. While their music is rooted in tradition, the essence and spirit of their art is revolutionary.
