ISA Lafayette Section will host an ASME Federal Fellow Luncheon Talk. This event is open to the public. Philip Grossweiler, M&H Energy, will discuss evolving U.S. policies on energy and climate change, providing his "in the trenches" perspectives while working as a Congressional Fellow on energy and climate change policy issues. Philip Grossweiler will discuss interfaces with congressional staff, lobbyists, think tanks and New Mexico constituents on a broad range of energy, resource access, climate change issues and work in developing legislation for renewable energy and energy production in ANWR and the Outer Continental Shelf. Philip will summarize key technology options for future energy supplies and reducing greenhouse gas emissions and offer comparisons of “cap and trade” and a carbon tax policies and discuss the costs and sacrifices either policy would impose on the U.S. public.
Speaker Bio: Philip is a Principal Consultant at M&H Energy Services in Houston, graduated from USCGA and holds M.S. degrees in Mechanical and Ocean Engineering from MIT, and an MBA from Houston Baptist University. He recently was an ASME Congressional Fellow working for Congresswoman Heather Wilson who represented the New Mexico First District for 10 years. He supported the Congresswoman on energy, climate change, natural resources, and science policy issues. Philip worked for Exxon for 25 years and recently served as Chair of an Advisory Committee to the Secretary, Department of Energy on Ultra Deepwater R&D programs. He also chairs sessions on Ocean Renewable Energy at the Offshore Technology Conference. The event is sponsored by Stella Maris of Lafayette, LA.
