Writing to Make News
Trainer: Jon Anderson

Use the power of story to get in the news. In this workshop, we will work on ways to sharpen our eyes, our ears and minds, to improve our sense of what makes a good story. We’ll discuss how to start a story, what goes into the “gee-whiz paragraph” and how to write a “kicker” ending. We’ll start with ideas (bring some) then work out specific game plans for shaping them. The challenge, as in all writing, is to get people interested in what you — and your group or organization — are all about.

This nonprofit training is part of the Community Media Workshop's Annual Making Media Connections Conference.
