Judith Butler has written numerous groundbreaking books on the subject of gender, include “Gender Trouble: Feminism and the Subversion of Identity” and “Bodies that Matter: On the Discursive Limits of Sex.” She is currently writing on Jewish philosophy, focusing in particular on pre-Zionist criticisms of state violence. She is the Maxine Elliot Professor of Rhetoric, Comparative Literature, and Gender and Sexuality Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.
