Though the original festival in Munich is already in full swing, the annual Oktoberfest by the Bay, which runs from October 11th through the 14th, is well worth the wait, with Bavarian festivities including live music and food galore in Fort Mason.

The event starts its four-day run on October 11th with Gemutlichkeit Night (5 PM–midnight; $20 per person); the Thursday night admission fee includes a souvenir glass, a bratwurst and a choice of Spaten brew, and groups of 10 or more can reserve a table (October 11–14, various hours; general admission is $20 per adult, $5 per child, with food and drink available for purchase; Fort Mason; tickets available online at https://tix.extremetix.com).
