FOCUS IS ON LEARNING AT 33RD ANNUAL HUNT’S SHOW, DEMO & SALE, FRI., OCT. 30TH – SUN., NOV. 1ST

Workshops doubled to accommodate exploding interest in education
(MELROSE, MA) – If you love taking pictures but wish you could do more, stop dreaming and start sharpening your skills at Hunt’s Photo & Video, 100 Main Street, Melrose. The digital imaging retailer, New England’s largest, will open the 33rd Annual Hunt’s Show, Demo & Sale with 30 FREE, hot topic workshops including three first-ever classes for professionals. The classes will begin on Thursday, October 29th and continue until Sunday, November 1st at 100 Main Street, Melrose.
The 3-day Hunt’s Show, Demo & Sale will be held from Friday, October 30th – Sunday, November 1st at Hunt’s flagship store in Melrose, MA. Show pricing will be in effect at all seven Hunt’s locations including Boston, Cambridge, Hadley, and Melrose, MA, Manchester, NH, Providence, RI, and So. Portland, ME.
The wide-ranging classes will cover every angle of digital imaging for beginner to advanced photographers. Instructors will include renowned professionals Steve Dunwell, Lou Jones, David Guy Maynard, and Xavier DeLaPaz, and as well as teachers from Digital Photo Academy and major manufacturers. Join representatives from Canon, Leica, Nikon, Olympus, Sony, Meade Telescopes, and other leading firms to “test drive” their new models during onsite equipment demonstrations.
EXPLODING PUBLIC INTEREST
This year’s heightened focus on learning comes in response to the widespread hunger for knowledge. “The appetite for education about digital photography is just huge,” explains Hunt’s spokesman Michael Mitchell. “Everyone from the 30-year professional to the point & shoot camera user is looking to learn because everything is changing so fast.”
Mitchell, who manages Hunt’s Melrose store, expects the Show’s diverse educational offerings to attract widespread interest among new and experienced buyers. “One of our more unusual workshops is designed for people who golf,” he explains. “The instructors will demonstrate how to use a high-speed camera and video analysis software to analyze and improve your golf swing, so it’s a great tool for anyone who wants to improve their game.”
Divers, animal lovers, and others can polish their skills at seminars dedicated to underwater photography, pet portraiture, photo composition, and choosing the right equipment. For the creative individuals, there will be specialized workshops on enhancing your images with Chroma-key backgrounds and using unusual angles to produce unique pictures.
For the first time, Hunt’s Photo & Video will present three seminars exclusively for professional photographers, plus a special “sneak preview” of the show from 5:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 29th. The professional workshops will be led by DeLaPaz, Jones and Maynard. A full schedule of the Show’s free workshops and online registration are available at www.wbhunt.com/seminars. Phone 781-462-2398 for more information.
While education is in the spotlight at the 33rd Annual Hunt’s Show, Demo & Sale, the season’s exciting new digital cameras will receive star billing. Among the offerings will be:
· Canon EOS 7D: Canon’s hot, new digital SLR gives professionals and advanced amateurs the performance they desire. The 19-point Autofocus system and new Intelligent Focus metering system are set to handle the most challenging situations. With a new, 18 Megapixel CMOS, two DIGIC-4 processors, and 8 frame per second speed, the EOS 7D is positioned to be the tool of choice for serious and semi-professional users.
· Leica X1: The leather-wrapped X1 combines the ease, convenience and size of a point & shoot camera with Leica’s superior quality and robust features. Packed with intuitive controls, manual and automatic settings, high-resolution imaging, and sturdy all-metal construction, the X1 offers the speed, versatility and creative freedom on which Leica’s reputation for imaging excellence is built.
· Nikon Cool Pix S1000pj: Weighing just 5.5 ounces and measuring 2.5” x 4” in size, the newly released Cool Pix S1000pj is a small camera with a big advantage: the world’s first built-in projector. Use this lightweight, compact beauty to instantly share images up to 40” in size on any flat surface. Add music, special effects and transitions and you’ll be ready to start the show.
