Celebrated soprano Alicia Berneche joins The Orion Ensemble for the world premiere of Which Way Home?, settings of five Anne Sexton poems by award-winning New York composer Drew Hemenger. Berneche also will collaborate with Orion’s Kathryne Pirtle (clarinet) and Diana Schmück (piano) to bring to life the Six German Songs, Op. 103 by Louis Spohr. For the program’s final work, Orion welcomes back Baird Dodge, principal second violin for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, for Piano Quintet, Op. 1 by Hungarian composer Ernst Dohnányi. Also November 22, 3 p.m., Music Institute of Chicago’s Nichols Hall in Evanston and November 29, 7 p.m., Fox Valley Presbyterian Church in Geneva.
