San Francisco's Bow & Sparrow with New York's Robot Church
Sunday November 8, 2009 from 8:00pm - 11:00pm
The Bushwick Starr
207 Starr St, #4
Brooklyn, New York 11237 Get Directions
San Francisco-based aerial dance company Bow & Sparrow is showcasing their signature high-flying dance with NeverAfter along with smokin' hot tap and comedy improv. They take audiences on a fantastical adventure to another world where people levitate, everything moves rhythmically, and everyone is simply mad. The story follows a modern girl who's too busy to date through a comedic speed-dating mishap and into an alternate dimension where she just might find the time to get swept, literally, off her feet.

Bow & Sparrow specializes in creating an interactive experience for audiences. They make going to theater cool again. There is a live DJ, performances happening around the room, a dance party afterwards and room in between the works to move around, chat and enjoy yourself. NeverAfter features set design by L.A.-based graffiti artist Hieronymus, the tap styling of rhythm-master Julianne Harper, the acting prowess of Zoe Galvez, the comedic zaniness of Chris Libby, and aerial works along with artistic direction by Kate Law & Alayna Stroud.

Robot Church will be premiering After Never... a sharp and witty romanticization of death, ghost love, and chaos conceived in honor of the The Day of the Dead. This short cycle of monologues, dances, and musical performances is packed with fantastic imagery and comedic soothsaying. Led by projections synced with soundscapes and musical compositions spanning genres this cycle serves as introduction, interludes, and the epilogue to the Bow and Sparrow Triptych. 8 to 10 short pieces.

Featuring monologues and other narratives by Ian Merrigan with a cast of actors, singers, and dancers. Direction, multi-media light and sound installation, direction, musical composition, and performance by Jon Pratt. Visuals by Jon Pratt, Austin Donohue, and Robert Ramirez. jonpratt.org
