Junk to Funk Recycled Fashion Show Contest
Saturday November 14, 2009 from 8:00pm - 10:30pm
Crystal Ballroom
1332 W Burnside St
Portland, Oregon 97209 Get Directions
Junk to Funk Recycled Fashion Show Contest is an annual production in Portland, Oregon aimed to educate it's audiences about waste reduction, recycling issues and to inspire creative re-use. We do this in a most unique way: through showcasing wearable art and couture fashion based on the creative use of “trash” in an eclectic and often humorous production.

HOSTED BY MAYOR SAM ADAMS &
THE MERCURY'S MARJORIE SKINNER

PERFORMANCE BY JUNQUESTRA
WITH A STAGE FULL OF JUNK INSTRUMENTS

THIS YEAR'S JUNK JURY

-Local Designer Adam Arnold
-Kelley Carmichael-Casey from SCRAP
-Kristen Calhoun from the Regional Arts and Culture Council
-Prasenjit Tito Chowdhury from Portland Fashion Week
-Ronda Chapman-Duer from the Oregon Association of Recyclers

Don't forget audience costumes are encouraged! But don't worry, if you don't get to it before hand, SCRAP will be on site with a DIY SCRAPPY ACCESSORY TABLE - bubble wrap bow tie anyone??

We recommend that you come early to interview with local show Sustainable Today Television on the "Green Carpet", watch intriguing film shorts and hang out with our trash monsters!!

Created and produced by Elysium Events, Junk to Funk is thrilled to work in collaboration with Scrap (School & Community Reuse Action Project) inspiring creative reuse and environmentally sustainable behavior by providing education programs and affordable materials to the community.
