The Waipa Foundation will host the 1st Annual Fall Luau from 5:00 – 10:00 pm on Saturday Dec. 5th. Waipa is located 1 mile past the town of Hanalei on a 1600 acre property that is being sustainably restored as educational and cultural community center. This years’ theme is to celebrate the bounty of the Harvest season with a mix of traditional Hawaiian foods and the innovative locally - grown treats.
The event will help fund the development of the Waipa Community kitchen and Hale Imu (traditional outdoor cooking area.) The project will help support the local farmers, families, caterers and small businesses to create value-added food products, and to nurture the next generation of culinary families. The event will feature a glimpse at the culinary and culturally based enrichment classes, workshops, and projects that the Waipa Foundation engages in to create a sustainable, culturally and community-based model for land use and management, based on the ancient Hawaiian ahupua'a methods managing the watershed from the mountains to the sea. The event begins at 5:00pm with a silent and live auction, craft demonstrations, and a sumptuous luau. Music and hula entertainment throughout.
