I may not be able to make tomorrow, or indeed any meeting before 8pm. I would like to help, but is it worth turning up 2 hours late?
In my likely absence, therefore, I wish to add a discussion to tomorrow's meeting.
As I have said previously, last year's event was pretty perfect. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. However the one weakness is off-track. With a mere 2 months to go, up-to-date information on the ride is almost impossible to find. I am lucky I simply know where to look or this meeting would be a myth. There is no way a volunteer or potential rider would find this link.
Has anybody from the organising caucus visited the sites recently? The wiki site and the Yahoo group both advertise the next meeting as "Tuesday, 3rd March"!
It is not that difficult to tweak a site or two every three days. I check out 6 Yahoo groups, 20 Flickr groups, 6 full networks plus my own websites three times a week. We cannot expect outsiders to show an interest in taking part if we are perceived as showing no interest in administrating the event. If people are genuinely too busy to promote, the WNBR will not wait for us; it runs on 14th June, with or without riders.
The group and wiki must be updated daily. Please, in the post-Berners-Lee age of easy communications, can we give some information to people outside our narrow clique?
