Continuing the Fall Newport Gallery Night Series, CADEAUX du MONDE's owner Katie Dyer will be presenting ongoing informal gallery talks from 5:00 until 8:00 in the evening of November 12th exploring such diverse jewelry traditions as West African trade beads handcrafted from recycled glass, handcrafted sterling jewelry including filigree from India, West Africa and the Philippines, beading traditions in Nepal, Guatemala and South Africa, and the use of natural and recycled materials in both traditional and modern jewelry from Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean and the South Pacific. These gallery talks will be illustrated with CADEAUX du MONDE's current collection of fairly traded folk art jewelry from Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean and the South Pacific. In addition, local jewelry designers Greta Kessler and Nina Pfanstiehl have their current work on display in CADEAUX du MONDE's Galerie Escalier.
Located in Newport, RI at 26 Mary Street, CADEAUX du MONDE's main gallery features fairly traded international folk art and Galerie Escalier, the former servants' staircase showcases local artists' works on a rotating basis.
