Summer's coming up, you say? And you like Theme Parks? Come and meet us at Alton Towers on the 2nd August then.
More details about possible train deals you can use to get there once the train companies get their acts together and publish this year's deals. Tickets normally cost £25 for an adult off t'web (plus obviously your cost to get there), but I'm sure that the normal 2 for 1 deals and the like will appear as soon as summer comes along.
This fun day out is open to all (not just geeks). Come one, come all - come to Alton Towers!
UPDATE
There is now a plan! Meet on the grass outside the Battle Galleons at 11am (go straight forward after entering and you should find them). If you're in London, here's one way to do that.
Catch the 7:25 from London St. Pancras to Derby (gets in at 9:15).
Catch the 9:28 from Derby to Uttoxeter (gets in at 9:50).
Catch the 10:15 X30 bus to Alton Towers (gets in at 10:40).
I posted it to the GeekDinner site ;). Can we make some more arrangements on where to meet up and what time to be there? (or maybe where to meet up in London to leave for Alton Towers)
@cbetta - Thanks, I saw :) There'll be more info about that sort of thing once there's more info available from the various train companies. As soon as more is available I'll be posting it - don't worry!
@dorward - Sorry dude. You could bring the family ;)
Here follows the note I just sent to everyone who was signed up to the event already:
So, Alton Towers is a mere three weeks away. Unfortunately it doesn't look like the train companies are doing any package deals this year, but hopefully that won't put many of you off.
So, just to remind you all of the plan. You get yourself to Alton Towers on Saturday 2nd August, buy yourself a ticket and then everyone meets up inside and has a jolly old time. Twitter will probably be useful for co-ordinating on the day.
If there are a bunch of people going from one place (London, I'm looking at you), why don't you organise it so that you all travel up together?
