Brandon Flowers, David Keuning, Mark Stoermer and Ronnie Vannucci took the fashionista pop world by storm in summer 2004 with 'Somebody Told Me.' The perfectly stylish song pulls from the band's influences -- the Smiths, New Order, Oasis and the Cure -- and it was just enough to get them on MTV. Part new wave and part new-millennium post-punk, this Las Vegas foursome rode high with their debut album, 'Hot Fuss' and are on tour to support their latest, 'Sam's Town.' Saosin formed in early 2003, with Beau Burchell and Justin Shekoski on guitar and Anthony Green on vocals. Within a few months, bassist Chris Sorenson and drummer Alex Rodriguez were added to the lineup. While most of us go to great lengths to rid our homes of cockroaches, the alt-metal band Papa Roach reveres the stealthy six-legged critters as emblematic beacons of strength, endurance and longevity. The Australian garage rock 'n' roll band Jet has proved their relentless energetic sound while tirelessly touring during 2003. Hailing from Melbourne and with dreams of making it big, the foursome formed just as the new millennium was beginning, quickly self-releasing the 'Dirty Sweet' EP in 2002. It became an instant-hit down under, and shortly thereafter captured a massive U.K. fanbase. The EP was then released in America in May 2003, quickly lighting a firestorm of positive press in various rock magazines. The band's proper studio full-length, 'Get Born,' appeared in November 2003. Hot Topic Presents The Sub City Take Action! Tour featuring The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, with Emery, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, A Static Lullaby and Kaddisfly. This multi-city, nationwide non-profit tour brings the issue of suicide and depression to the front page. Hopeless/Sub City Records, the founder and organizer of the tour, will once again donate a percenatge of all ticket sales sold to the Youth America Hotline! 1-877-YOUTHLINE (968-8454). This benefiting charity was founded by the Kristen Brooks Hope Center to help young people in crisis through peer-to-peer counseling and educating young people about mental health issues.
