The Carleton College Symphony Band, under the direction of Bruce Gleason, visiting associate professor of music, will present a concert on Friday, Feb. 17, at 8pm in the Carleton College Concert Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

The program will consist of contemporary band literature including works from Ambroise Thomas, Robert Jager, Dana Wilson, Karl King, and Morten Lauridsen.

Bruce Gleason earned his bachelor?s degree in music from Crown College, a bachelor of science and a master?s in music education from the University of Minnesota, and a doctorate in music education from the University of Iowa. He served with the 298th U.S. Army Band of the Berlin Brigade as a euphonium/trombone player and vocalist, and has taught music at all levels.

The Symphony Band is composed of 30 instrumentalists who rehearse three times a week.
