The Peak.com Pittsfield Peaks Ultra Marathon Race
Ultramarathon:
Solo runners only - 53 miles. New this year!
Relay:
Three person teams - 53 miles. New this year - Runners can do as much or as little as they would like as long as all three participate and you must make your relay exchanges at a check point. Race management needs to know who is in the woods at all times.
Course:
Start will be at Amee Farm and the finish will be at Riverside Farm.
Race course will be on country roads, logging roads, NFS roads, snowmobile trails, and rugged single track trails. You will see the same aid station after Contest/Wilcox section (mile 12), again after Hayes Brook Loop (mile 18) and again after Bloodroot Mountain (mile 37). You can have a drop bag at this station. The aid station will have water, HEED, soda, and ultra snacks. The second main station will be at Riverside which you will see after Hedgehog (mile 41) and after South Hill loop (mile 46) and at the finish (mile 53). You can have a drop bag at this station as well. There will be a few water only aid stations at approx. mile 6, mile 25, and mile 31. There will be a short river section at the end of the race.
Pittsfield Peaks Distances and Elevations:
1. Contest Trail (Wilcox Mtn) - 12.96 miles - 2787 vertical
2. Hayes Brook Loop - 6 miles - 957 vertical
3. Bloodroot Mtn. - 19.89 miles - 4670 vertical
4. Hedgehog - 3.79 miles - 700 vertical
5. South Hill - 4.43 miles - 1508 vertical
6. Joe's Hill (Sable Mtn) - 7.08 miles - 3383 vertical
53 MILES - 14,005 vertical
* The course will be VERY easy to follow but VERY difficult to run.
* As in the same style as the snowshoe marathon there will be music and fun and speakers and dinners and barbques and gifts and a VERY unique trendsetting finishers award that will become the new buzz in finishing awards.
* Finishing this race should be a testament to any race director anywhere in the world that you qualify!
Cost:
Solo - $75 before 3/1. $100 after.
Relay - $150 before 3/1. $200 after.
High School Students - $10
Prize:
$2,000 for the top male and the top female in the solo division race only.
$200 will be stashed en route to the top of each peak. Keep your eyes open.
Awards:
Unique finishers awards. Awards presentation will be Sunday morning after breakfast (approximately 9 a.m.)
