The June meeting welcomes Upcoming.org founder, Waxy.org proprietor, and brand new Portlander Andy Baio. Andy will talk about his side project (Upcoming), which became a bigger project, which was finally acquired by Yahoo! in 2005.

Wow, this is totally exciting! I did not know Upcoming.org was a Portland gig (or at least that the founder is local!)

It wasn't... I just moved to PDX in January. It originally started in Santa Monica.

Where were you in Santa Monica? I used to work above Cafe Crepe on the promenade.

I worked at Dimensional Fund Advisors, the big building at the corner of Ocean and Arizona. I used to go to Cafe Crepe regularly... I liked it much better than Acadie, the other creperie on Arizona.

At least you had a view of the ocean. I had to look at the ugly mall, I believe they have now ripped down.
