Shape Note music is a traditional and distinctive American form of unaccompanied singing. The Original Sacred Harp is one of the oldest Shape Note tune books. It has been in continual use since 1844. Shape Note music, recently featured in the film, Cold Mountain, is sung a cappella in an exuberant outpouring of sound and feeling.
