On Tuesday, March 7, 2006, corporate and community leader Dr. Richard Levy, Ph.D., President and CEO, Varian Medical Systems will speak on ?Leading a High-Tech Company?. The presentation will be held from 6:15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at Martin Luther King Library (150 East San Fernando Street, San Jose 95112) in room 225. This event is co-sponsored by Business Graduate Programs and the Silicon Valley Center for Entrepreneurship

Dr. Levy will give insights and analysis of Varian Medical Systems? great success since its spin-off from Varian Associates. He will discuss strategy, decision making and issues related to succeeding in the changing global marketplace.

Varian Medical Systems has $1.4 billion in assets and provides high energy radiation machines and associated hardware and software for treating cancer, and x-ray tubes for diagnostic radiology. With over 4,300 radiotherapy systems in place delivering treatments to more than 1 million cancer patients per year, the company holds a clear leadership position in this technology which is used to treat over 50% of all cancer patients in the United States. Varian Medical Systems also ranks as the world?s largest merchant supplier of X-ray tubes, including products for use in CT scanners, mammography units, and other diagnostic systems.
