The World of Shells
Friday July 23, 2010 from 10:00am - 5:00pm
Fernbank Museum of Natural History
767 Clifton Rd Ne
Atlanta, Georgia 30307 Get Directions
Search for shells in the artful collection found in 'The World of Shells'. As fascinating to casual shell observers as it is to knowledgeable shell collectors, 'The World of Shells' explains how shell material is formed, the numerous ways animals use their shells and the life processes of shelled animals. Not only will you learn the history of the oyster found in Georgia waters and its impact on coastal culture, but you'll learn interesting details of shells from around the world in this stunning exhibition of colors, textures and shapes. A 900-gallon living reef saltwater aquarium provides a window into the habitat of sea creatures native to Georgia's coast and can be viewed from 'The World of Shells' and 'The Star Gallery'.
