Hill Country Strings presents music from 20th-century Russia and England, including Dmitri Shostakovich's darkly humorous 7th String Quartet. Also featured in this concert will be performances by some of Austin?s most talented songwriters, including Tony Scalzo, Robert Harrison, Karla Manzur, Jason Molin, and Mo Pair, with string arrangements of their songs by Joseph Shuffield. In addition, the quartet will perform a selection from Ernest Chausson?s concerto for violin, piano and string quartet, arranged for harmonica, with pianist Tom Hollingshead and harmonica player Michael Rubin. Also, Rabih Abou-Khalil?s Arabian Waltz will be performed with the assistance of Mike Hoffer (tuba) and Oliver Rajamani (percussion).
